Cheesy potato gratin

250 ml
Haralambides Christis whole milk, 3% fat

butter

all-purpose flour
½ tsp
onion powder
½ tsp
garlic powder
1 tbsp
thyme

Pepper

shredded mozzarella
Execution
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly using a knife or mandoline for uniform slices.
In a small saucepan, heat the cream and milk, then set aside.
In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir for 1-2 minutes to create a roux. Gradually add the cream and milk mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Add the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens slightly.
In a greased baking dish, layer the potato slices. Pour the sauce over the potatoes and sprinkle the mozzarella on top.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.
